Anthony Mason died at the age of 48 after suffering a heart attack. Mason brought toughness and skill to the power forward position during his tenure in the NBA.

He started his collegiate career at Tennessee State University before making his way to the NBA. Fans will mostly remember his years with the New York Knicks during the mid-’90s when he established the “point-forward” position as a big man with exceptional handle. He made the All-Star team in 2001.

Mason’s family released a statement, “He fought like a warrior to the very end.”
“We would like to thank everyone for their heartfelt thoughts and strong prayers,” the statement said. “Anthony felt each and every one. He fought like a warrior to the very end. Please keep your prayers and thoughts with us through this very hard time — it is a great loss for us. We ask for our privacy during this time.”
