Chris Brown seems to finally be getting it right. The R&B sensation was forced to cancel a previously scheduled show in Atlanta due to parole violations and failing to complete community service. With most of those issues behind him, he has resumed the “Between the Sheets” tour along with Trey Songz.

On March 2, the two performed before a sold-out Philips Arena where possibly more than 90 percent of attendees were female. It was a show that set out to pay homage to true R&B while also leaning on the urgency of rap.

The two singers went back and forth between performances with Trey Songz leading the way before Chris Brown jumped into his set with “Wall to Wall,” “Dueces,” and “Poppin.'”

Chris Brown and Trey Songz shared the stage and performed several of their hits before bringing out a slew of special guests. The two introduced R. Kelly who sang several hits, including “12 Play,” and “Bump & Grind.” Keith Sweat was another old-school R&B legend who hit the stage with a performance of “Nobody.”

After the R&B legends left the stage, the show transformed into a mini-rap concert as T.I., Young Jeezy, Fabolous, Y.G., Future,  Yo Gotti and Tyga joined Chris Brown and Trey Songz on stage.

Trey Songz finished his set with “Say Aah,” “Touchin, Lovin,” and Chris Brown wrapped up the show with “Loyal.”

Overall, the show proved that hip-hop remains an important influence, but true R&B still exists. And when Chris Brown is on stage without distractions, he’s at his best.
