Friends, supporters, and a number of notables from Chicago’s film community all came out to noted West Loop eatery, M Vie, to watch the premiere of 1555 Filmworks’ latest film, “My First Love,” as it recently premiered on BET.

“My First Love,” which stars Pooch Hall and Gabrielle Dennis (both formerly of the hit show, “The Game”), is the story of a once happily married couple facing serious issues in their relationship as the compulsive use of electronic devices drives wedge between them. In our current world of social media and technology, the film examines how literally having the world at our fingertips can cause a serious rift in modern relationships.

Director Mark Harris, who also heads up the annual Engelwood International Film Festival in Chicago, says it’s important to him to keep shining a light on his hometown.

“Chicago is so beautiful and scenic…not to mention all of the talent we have here,” Harris says. “I absolutely want to do all that I can to continue letting the world see all that we have to offer here.”

Fans can check their local listings for repeat airings of “My First Love,” which rated as BET’s highest rated program for the day. In the meantime, Harris’ previous film, “Black Coffee,” is scheduled to air on the Centric network on March 25 at 5 p.m. CST and March 26 at 10 a.m. CST.
