Stacy Francis, new ‘R&B Divas: LA’ cast member: ‘I’m really not crazy’

Stacy Francis is the new kid on the block on “R&B Divas: LA.” She’s from Brooklyn, New York, and that’s where her bold, gutsy side comes from.

Word on the streets is Chrisette Michelle left “R&B Divas” because Francis was brought in to bring the noise. But I don’t believe that’s true. (The part about Michele leaving for good.) We know Francis can bring it, though.

While in the ATL I caught wind on Twitter that Francis was rehearsing for a performance at the SCLC with Q Parker and Ashley Jackson (daughter of Jesse Jackson), so I reached out to her to see if we could chat for a minute and get to the bottom of just how she landed a spot on “R&B Divas: LA.” To my surprise, Francis was such a breath of fresh air. She was an amazing conversationalist and a mother (I didn’t know that). She was getting prepared for her photo shoot with Calvin of The Brand Factory.

After getting her face beat by Geisha Boi and her hair laid by Jimmy with Therapy Styles, and even though Francis recently learned you aren’t supposed to say the word “fleek” if you are over 30, she said it anyway.  Stacy gave credit and thanks to show producer Phil Thornton for bringing her in but explains she is catching a lot of flack about “getting the girls together” because of course reality television is only capturing her on 100 in dramatic rants. But what she did explain is how they are filming six days per week at 10 hours per day; out of 60 hours they make sure to capture all her 100 moments in the 44 minutes filmed for the episode but never show how she went from zero to 100.

“If you look at a person like Tamar Braxton and NeNe Leakes, we fall in love with them for their realness. There is nothing fake about them,” Francis said. She even shared some advice that Tamar Braxton gave to her on how to handle the haters.

Stacy Frances the more serious sideFrancis is so full of life, animated and hilarious. She really makes for good for reality TV. After watching “R&B Divas,” you can catch “The Stacy Francis Show” on YouTube as she does a recap to explain and clarify different challenges she may have faced that night on the show.
