A group of over 100 white demonstrators gathered in Philadelphia to participate in a “White Lives Matter” rally. The term takes a spin on the “Black Lives Matter” movement, which calls for an end to police killings of unarmed Blacks.

However, the “White Lives Matter” rally apparently stems from a spat between a White woman and a Black woman. According to reports by Philadelphia’s NBC 10s, an argument between the women occurred and the Black woman allegedly struck the White woman. Police didn’t report any severe injuries and left without arresting anyone.

But the minor spat was enough for a group of White people in South Philadelphia to call for a rally to march against the Blacks who were “terrorizing” their neighborhood. They called the incident “racially motivated.”

One of the people in attendance was Democratic city councilman Mark Squilla. Squilla addressed the crowd and assured them that more would be done to investigate the incident.

But Squilla never researched the rally’s organizer, Jack Owens. Gawker discovered several racist social media posts that depict Owens as a racist. One disturbing post was a photo of an ape with the quote, “Quit comparing me to N—.”

Since the racist rally, police are currently investigating the fight between the women.
