The season known as “Summertime Chi” got off to a great start as professional networking group, The New Chicago, recently launched their monthly summer mixer series called Sundae Sundays in grand style.

Young professionals from across the city gathered on a multilevel yacht to cruise the waters of Lake Michigan while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. Guests also enjoyed tasty ice cream sundaes provided by local ice cream and dessert shop, Sugar Shack, located in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood.

Founder Steve Suave says he created the group to unite Chicago’s young professionals with community service and professional development being its foundation.

“I started this organization as a solution to the violence that plagues the inner city because millennials have the power to change the world,” he says. “Sundae Sundays is our way of celebrating life and connecting as a unit while promoting peace and the beauty of Chicago.”

The collective currently works with the homeless, at-risk youth and hosts a bimonthly mixer called The After Work Series at Fleetwood Restaurant.
