The Musical Art Institute is the brainchild of Michael and Lana Manson. This organization was created with the children of Chicago in mind. “Our devotion and giving to our students is an intricate part of our lifestyle inclusive of our Christian philosophy and training,” says Michael Manson.

The Musical Arts Institute held its third annual gala benefit concert at The Logan Center of the Arts on the campus of The University of Chicago. It was an evening of elegant jazz and soul. The night was about the children and their amazing talents. One highlight of the evening was an uber talented jazz ensemble of three young  men performing Chick Corea’s song “Spain.” The drummer of the ensemble is 8 years old.

Oleta Adams capped off the evening as she performed all of her timeless hits. She started off the night with “Circle Of One.” She also performed “Rhythm of Life.” Her voice is just as powerful and soulful as ever. At one point during the evening, Adams invited 12-year-old Chesney Rolette to sing her rendition of Adams’ song “I’ve Got to Sing My Song.” Chesney brought the house down and got a standing ovation. It was extremely moving.

Adams closed out the night with the song everyone was waiting for, “Get Here.” Adams was amazed by the skill level of the children and jokingly adopted a few of them for the night.

It was a beautiful evening for a wonderful cause, our children.
