Reggae Sumfest 2015 continues to draw large crowds and deliver great performances

Leaving their mark on International Night One of Reggae Sumfest 2015 at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre in Montego Bay, St James, Jamaica, conscious rapper, poet and Academy Award-winning artist Common and trap music star TI also perform some of their best hits.

Common and his backing singer ignited the stage with “Love of my Life,” of course “Glory” and many of his best hits. His DJ delivered a set that paid homage to Bad Boy Records and the Notorious Big.

T.I. gave us “Live Your Life,” “Bring ‘Em Out,” “Rubberband Man” and ” and “Whatever You Like” but the crowd really lost it when the king of the south introduced the king of dancehall, Beenie Man, and they performed the single, “I’m Serious,” from T.I.’s debut CD of the same name.

Local reggae star Rastafarian singer and roots-rock reggae ambassador Kabaka Pyramid had me at “Well Done;” and Jesse Royal rocked the stage with his conscious message in reggae music with hits like “Ganja Time” and “Ghetto Girl.”

Reggae Sumfest, celebrating its 23 years, is Jamaica’s largest, most commercially successful music event. Past International acts have included Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Usher, Ne-Yo and Chris Brown that attract the vast corporate support, which is essential to Sumfest’s success.
