As the summer is winding down, the events are heating up. Johnny Gill stopped by the Promontory recently to perform at the 3rd annual Black McDonald’s Operators Association Block Party. BMOA sponsored this free event; tickets were given away to those who visited select McDonald’s locations or by winning via online entry at V103’s website.

The event was hosted by V103 radio personality Consuella, who kept the audience engaged and entertained for the evening as fans waited for Gill to hit the stage. DJ Phantom was on the ones and twos for the evening and had the crowd rocking with his selection of music. Decatur based soul singer Marwan opened up the set by performing “Overjoyed,” a Stevie Wonder cover. He also performed his song “Work It Out.” After Marwan’s set, Consuella took a moment to snap a selfie with the audience.

Right after the selfie was taken, Consuella spoke to the crowd about McDonald’s new Jalapeno Burger and a few other new products; the crowd seemed interested, but they were more hungry for Johnny Gill to hit the stage. Consuella gave an amazing introduction and after a few moments, Johnny appeared on stage greeted by the cheers of his adoring fans. Johnny gave an amazing set starting it off with “Rub You The Right Way.” Johnny passed out a plethora of roses and ended the set with “My My My” only to be brought back out onto the stage because of the cheers from the fans. He performed “My Body” and “Slow and Sexy” for his encore. BMOA knows how to throw a block party and by the look of the packed house last night, R&B is alive and well.
