The Philadelphia Eagles were certainly not anticipating Marcus Smith being carted off the field in a pre-season game, leading to an announcement that the outside linebacker will be out 2-3 months with a hamstring surgery. It definitely puts a damper in the Eagles 2014 1st round draft pick rookie plan to step it up and turn some heads this season.

Vinny Curry was prepared for yet another position change, and he will definitely be the answer going forward to the depth problem the Eagles incurred with two of their outside lineman out with injuries.

While Smith concentrates on following the doctor’s orders to get the appropriate rest and follow proper recovery protocol in order to return strong and healthy, Curry will busy himself continuing to be a game changer for the Eagles as he continues to play a major role in the Eagles defensive lineup.

Even though Curry is still not yet a starter, he’s been successful at switching it up upon request and we know Chip Kelly is glad to have such a chameleon of a lineman able to embrace change and welcome it as a new challenge.

With Marcus Long out for the entire season with a torn AC, this is the perfect time to put Curry to the test and see how it all pans out. Curry has been a key piece of the Eagles’ defensive line; specializing in pass rushing, so the changes should be really easy for him.

Rolling out had a chance to speak with Curry and he was very upbeat. “Hey, you know I stay ready and I’m always up for the challenge to make the difference. I’m excited the coaches have the confidence in me to pull off the change to 3-4 outside lineman. I’m always game to do whatever helps our team win. It’s all about being able to jump right in where they need me and prove I’m the man for the task. It was a great feeling!” he said.
