The Black McDonald’s Operators Association (BMOA) held their 2nd installment of the 3rd Annual Block Party at The WIRE in Berwyn featuring Avery Sunshine. The “BMOA Block Party” is a free community event designed to excite and engage Chicagoland consumers around summer fun at McDonald’s.

V103’s radio personality Consuella was the night’s host and DJ Ice Culpepper was on the 1’s and 2’s. R&B singer Melissa Clark opened the event with a great set.

Avery Sunshine who has clearly been adopted by her Chicago fans performed an amazing set that at one point left many in tears. Her voice is a force to be reckoned with and anyone who has an opportunity should see this Spelmanite perform. At one point during her performance she mentioned how many folks told her she was too old to be pursuing her dream and it didn’t stop her. Her passion and God gave her a gift that has touched lives.

Avery performed “Ugly Part of Me” from her 2010 self titled release. She also performed “Call My Name” off her most recent release The SunRoom. When she did “Safe in his Arms” the WIRE turned into a Sunday morning church service with the audience as the choir and Avery as the lead. It was truly a spiritual moment and there was not a dry eye was in the house.

BMOA closed out the summer with another amazing after-work set and we appreciate it.
