While out promoting his latest project, Royalty, reformed recording artist Chris Brown stopped by “Ebro in the Morning” on Hot 97, where he touched on several topics, including his headline-making personal life, fatherhood, and his upcoming Thanksgiving plans. But there was one subject off the table — politics.

“I can’t even get into politics ’cause I don’t know nothing [sic] about it,” he said. “That’s not even my lane.”

He also spoke candidly about the criticism he receives over the company he keeps. As you may recall, the rumor mill once claimed that Brown was affiliated with the L.A. Bloods. “This is what I’ve been born into, not saying gangs … I was born into poverty. I was born into the bad neighborhoods. The people I can identity with is [sic] the people who have been doubted.”

As for his old flame, Karrueche Tran, the “Loyal” singer says he no longer communicates with the model but wishes “much success, much blessings to her.” However, there is another sexy young lady occupying his time, Teyana Taylor. The 26-year-old recently recorded a track for Taylor, which samples Adina Howard’s “Freak Like Me,” but he also hopes to include his mini me, Royalty. “I’ma try to get it for my album too ’cause the song’s too big.” “Royalty,” the album represents “where I’m at right now in my life,” said Brown, adding, “She’s the biggest part of my life.”

For Thanksgiving, Brown will head to his L.A. home to be with family and enjoy his fave foods: yams, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese.

And we’ve got a clue about what he’s thankful for: “My daughter is wonderful, she’s gorgeous, so I said, you know what, let me at least do the right things for her. I can’t be perfect, but she’s helping me to shape my decisions and my actual consciousness.”

To support Brown’s Royalty project, check it out on Dec. 18.
