Big Sean, multiplatinum award-winning recording artist and founder of the Sean Anderson Foundation joined forces with Detroit native Tarence Wheeler (Tarence Wheeler Productions) to host their annual All-Star Giveback: Thanksgiving Edition.  The all-star-studded event was held on  Tuesday, Nov. 24 at River Rouge High School where they gave away more than 2,000 turkeys and food baskets to Detroiters in need.

The event’s celebrity all stars included former Detroit Mayor Dave Bing, former NBA players Derrick Coleman, Willie Burton, Earl Cureton, John Long and former NFL players Ron Rice, Lomas Brown and Larry Lee.  Also in attendance were United States Attorney Barbara McQuade and Hall of Fame boxer Tommy “Hitman” Hearns.

Tarence Wheeler said his team has been successfully hosting this event for 17 years. They decided to make this year’s event a celebrity giveaway, with Big Sean and the Sean Anderson Foundation the main headliners. Big Sean mixed and mingled throughout the crowd with ease, all the while handing out turkey’s, food baskets and taking pictures with families.  He was seen, along with his mother Myra Anderson, moving seamlessly through the event, laughing, conversing and shaking hands.

Last year, the event served over 1,000 residents. This year, they more than doubled that number, serving over 2,200. “People started lining up 6 a.m. in the morning! That’s not because they wanted to see a celebrity. It was out of necessity. People need help, and that’s what the All-Star Giveback is about: helping people and trying to provide families with some form of reprieve, ” said Wheeler, president and CEO of All-Star Giveback LLC.

Big Sean is committed to helping out his community in many ways. He showed up in a major way at the giveback.  He’s proving to all that indeed, one man can change the world.
