Entertainment executive and philanthropist Shanti Das teamed up with actress Keshia Knight Pulliam and singer Teddy Riley on Nov. 21 for the 4th annual food drive to benefit The Atlanta Mission’s No Reservations Needed Thanksgiving Dinner.

Food was collected at Walmart off MLK Drive in Atlanta. Hundreds of people showed up and contributed non-perishable goods, and The Art Institute of Atlanta also helped out by hosting their own drive.

The Nov. 24 dinner was also a great success. The Atlanta Mission, an organization which aids the homeless in the metro-Atlanta area, served guests Thanksgiving dinner, which was prepared by volunteers and faculty members from The Art Institute of Atlanta. Turkey, stuffing, ham, side dishes, and desserts were happily passed out by a group of volunteers, and hundreds of men received free grooming from local barbers.

Over 100 of the city’s leaders attended and greeted guests. Some notable figures who participated included Pulliam, Riley, actress Demetria McKinney, singer Donell Jones, Councilman Kwanza Hall, and President Newton Myvett of The Art Institute of Atlanta. V-103’s Big Tigger and Derrick Boazman of WAOK broadcasted live from the gathering.

“I am very excited to host this annual dinner,” said Das, founder of the No Reservations Needed Thanksgiving Dinner. “Each year, the community support continues to grow … from our sponsors to my friends/colleagues and gracious strangers who helped.”
