The cast of Spike Lee’s new satirical film, Chi-Raq, graced the orange carpet on Dec. 1 at the Ziegfeld theater in New York City.

The director was joined by Carmelo and Lala Anthony, Nick Cannon, Teyonah Parris, Wesley Snipes, Ilfenesh Hadera, George Willborn, John Cusack, Rev. Al Sharpton, John Turturro, Erica Watson, and others.

The orange carpet was likely in honor of the Wear Orange campaign, in which Lee has participated. Since hunters wear orange as a signal to other hunters not to shoot at them, the campaign uses the color to symbolize anti-gun violence and awareness.

Chi-Raq is an urban, modern spin on the Greek comedy Lysistrata, which was originally performed in 411 BCE. Set in the high-violence city of Chicago, a gang leader named Chi-Raq (Cannon) is behind a lot of the deadly activity in his community. His girlfriend, Lysistrata (Parris), grows concerned with the violence and decides to organize a sex strike to bring about peace.

Chi-Raq is in theaters now.
