New York Knicks player Cleanthony Early was robbed at gunpoint after a visit to popular Queens, NY strip club Cityscapes. According to police, Early was leaving the club with a female friend when the Uber car he was riding in was surrounded by at least three cars. At least 4-6 individuals then assaulted Early and stole his jewelry, cash and gold caps from his teeth. After robbing the NBA star, the assailants then shot Early in his knee.

Early was rushed to a hospital for surgery and is in stable condition. The New York Knicks organization has not released a statement yet on the incident or whether the injury to his knee will end his career as a basketball player. This is the second time in a week a Knicks player has been the target of a robbery. Last week, his teammate Derrick Williams was robbed of $750K in jewelry at his apartment by two unidentified men. Early was drafted by the Knicks in 2014 and has played 10 games this season. His most recent game resulted in a 108-96 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden. The Uber driver and Early’s female companion were not hurt during the robbery. Police are stating at this time it does not appear that Early was targeted for the attack.

Can’t blame players for not wanting to play in NY. The team sucks and you have to deal with stuff like this.

Yes this can happen anywhere especially to a rich and famous athlete but it does happen more often in cities like NY and Chicago and of course players will go to any city that wants them and pays accordingly but it is well know that most would rather warmer climates and a winning team, which NY has neither.

Why do police feel he was not a target? He was shot in the knee… Someone had to know who he was and was probably following him from that club as he dropped $$$$ . they need to pull the video surveilllance from the club and other stores.
