Last month, two University of Rochester football players were kidnapped near the New York campus. The two friends were the victims of a case of mistaken identity. A few days before they the pair was kidnapped, a drug deal went bad near the apartment that one of them rented. And even though he had nothing to do with the criminal activity, he was mistakenly identified as one of the robbers by a gang. In retaliation, he was lured to meet a woman he met online at a location near campus. He asked his friend to tag along for the meet up with the unknown woman. That is when a gang of six identified as Lydell Strickland, 26, Dennis Perez, 23, Leah Gigliotti, 20,Samantha Hughes, 19, Inalia Rolldan,19, and David Alcaraz-Ubiles kidnapped the pair.

They were taken to a house and endured hours of torture terror.  They were tied up and beaten with clubs by the group of kidnappers. The gang demanded their cash, credit cards and PIN numbers.

Because of a tip, police were able to find the location where the pair was being held and a 40 hour SWAT standoff took place. Police were able to rescue the pair and took the gang members into custody.

Indictments were issued this week for the gang on multiple charges that included kidnapping, felony fire arms charges, predatory sexual assault, and gang assault.
