Players and coaches from the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos kicked off Super Bowl 50 week with media day on opening night. As expected, quarterbacks Cam Newton and Peyton Manning garnered the most attention during the two-hour event. Newton answered questions on facing backlash regarding his touchdown celebrations; why he decided to name his son “Chosen”; and how Atlanta’s rap culture has impacted the world.

Manning, on the other hand, answered questions about his legacy in the NFL and dodged answering questions that focused on his likely retirement after Super Bowl 50. Other players who received a lot of media attention during the event included the Panthers’ Josh Norman who wore a wrestling mask; the Broncos’ Emmanuel Sanders, who wore Google Glasses; and Demaryius Thomas, who discussed his mother recently being pardoned by President Obama after spending years in prison.

Media day was a prime-time event held at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. It served as the opening of Super Bowl week, which will feature a slew of concerts, parties, and fan exhibits that will take place before the big game on Sunday.
