Well over a thousand mourners filled St. Paul AME Church in Atlanta to celebrate the life of slain Riverdale Police Major Gregory E. Barney. He was assisting the Clayton County, Georgia Police Department when a suspect shot him four times in the chest and wrist. Barney was rushed to Southern Regional Medical Center where he died from his wounds. Full honors were given to the fallen officer, with law enforcement from across the state and country in attendance at the church to pay their respect. Major Barney was the brother of Michael “Magic” Barney, the owner of Atlanta’s most popular adult entertainment club, Magic City.

Downtown Atlanta roadways came to a standstill as hundreds of police vehicles left Turner Field to travel to the church. A full police motorcycle honor guard escort led the way onto the campus of St. Paul AME while a white hearse was surrounded by rows of white gloved police honor guards.
