The relationship between Russell Wilson and Ciara has truly seemed like a fairy tale. For nearly a year, the pop star’s fans have been rooting for her and her athlete boyfriend, and now Wilson has finally put a ring on his future wife’s finger.
On Friday afternoon, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback posted a message to his Twitter page that read, “She said Yes!!! Since Day 1 I knew you were the one. No Greater feeling… #TrueLove @Ciara.”
He also posted a video of him and his new fiancée making the announcement while on their first fishing trip together. Ciara was visibly ecstatic, showing off her large rock and screeching.

“I’m so excited! God is so good,” Ciara said.
The couple began dating in April 2015, after they both went through public break-ups. Ciara was engaged to recording artist Future, but the two split in 2014 amid rumors of Future being unfaithful. They have a son, Future Zahir Wilburn.
Wilson married his high school sweetheart, Ashton Meem, in 2012. The relationship ended in divorce in 2014. There were allegations that the demise of the marriage was Meem’s fault. Reports stated that she had an affair with Wilson’s teammate, Golden Tate. But Tate later denied the claims.
Ciara and Wilson’s relationship has certainly been highly publicized. The lovebirds have been very open about their decision to stay celibate until marriage. They have also been seen on several red carpets looking very in love.
The two entertainers have also faced some criticism for their relationship. After pictures surfaced of Wilson bonding with Ciara’s son, some critics, including celebrities such as T.I., argued that she shouldn’t have another man’s child around her boyfriend so soon. And most recently, Khloe Kardashian suggested that the couple may be vowing to be celibate for publicity.
But regardless of what the couple’s naysayers think, they are finally taking the next step in their relationship by tying the knot.
Congratulations to the beautiful couple!
