A youth pastor in Texas was severely beaten by a group of people after being caught in a horrendous act. According to Fox 4 in Dallas, Texas, Willie Lee Bell Jr. served as a youth pastor at First United Methodist Church of Cedar Hill. But Bell, 29, used his position to assault young boys.

Last week, Bell visited an apartment complex in Dallas and spotted a 6-year-old boy playing with toys outside. Bell was able to lure the boy behind one of the apartment buildings which was secluded. At some point, Bell began to sexually abuse the boy who is a kindergarten student. Although the location was secluded, some individuals in the apartment noticed the attack. Several men approached Bell while he was was abusing the child and began to beat the youth pastor. They held him at the apartment complex until police arrived. Bell was not a resident of the apartment complex and did not know the child.

But it’s unclear why Bell was allowed to remain on the streets. In February, two young boys who were members of the First United Methodist Church of Cedar Hill church choir accused Bell of sexual abuse. The boys told authorities that they were sexually abused by Bell while he was wearing “church shoes.”

Bell found different ways to place himself around kids. He even set up a meeting with the principal of Bray Elementary School in Cedar Hill to discuss creating a mentorship program for the students who attend the school. The principal of the school thought about adding the program, but never agreed to Bell’s plan.

It was also discovered that Bell had showed child porn to several kids in Tennessee. His issues shed light on why it’s important for individuals to be properly vetted before they are allowed to work with children. Although Bell has been caught abusing three kids, authorities must question the other youth who were in contact with him while he served as a youth pastor.
