Ford is really taking to heart their new catch phrase of being “unstoppable.” This was the third year in a row that I was able to attend the Ford event where the local Ford dealers exhibit the new exciting vehicle line-up. Art of the Drive is the 2016 concept and I must say Ford was quite successful when they tapped Big Boi from OutKast on the shoulder to host a unique VIP experience for media, VIPs and the tastemakers in Atlanta.

Upon arrival at the media checkin booth, we were offered complimentary valet parking so we could meet our Ford escort to taxi us to the event space. The ride allowed time for us to become familiar with various features of the new Ford Fusion Eco. The turn dial button replaced the bulky gear shift, which I found to be a pretty neat feature. Since it was also 100 degrees outside, I especially appreciated the air condition unit working properly. Upon arrival at Gallery 874, we were welcomed by public relations guru Ina Saulsbery to cover some housekeeping rules and let us know about the different artists whose work was displayed, the complimentary Art of the Drive t-shirts we could get made, the open bar, the complimentary food and the most important part of the evening, the event hashtag #Fordatl .

We did get to personally sit down with Dalton Ford dealer Mr. Kipp and I was updated on some of the vehicle’s features. Safety first is really important with a teenager of driving age in my home. I didn’t know that in the new Ford Fusion the radio will not come on unless the seat belts are fastened. I was also surprised to learn on certain vehicles you can have the speed set as well to not go over 70mph. What a way to micromanage the young driver’s safety behind the wheel without being in the car!

We discussed ride sharing, the Ford Park app that even helps you find local parking lots and parking availability when you are in the inner-city. Ford is committed to providing cars to the African American inner-city consumers regardless of their past credit history.
