As I eased onto the gas and the 2017 Lincoln MKZ glided onto one of the busiest streets in West Midtown Atlanta, namely Howell Mill Road, I felt as if I was riding on the clouds. Just 20 minutes earlier, I was zipping down the interstate to make it to lunch on time at The Optimist, the city’s swankiest seafood restaurant and oyster bar. Just the thought of the delectable lobster rolls gave me such an adrenaline rush. I’d been waiting all week to return to the ATL from the West Coast because I finally had my opportunity to participate in the Ride and Drive for the midsize sedan touted as combining “intuitive technology, effortless performance and distinctive design to deliver an enhanced driving experience Lincoln calls quiet luxury.”

It wasn’t until I collapsed into the mulit-contour leather seat and woosah’d that I became aware of the crisp ambient sound permeating the poshly appointed cabin. First was the smooth sound of “Desafinado,” next “Fragments of Time” and before you know it, I reached my destination for the Music Experience that I was assigned to. Inside the doors of the studio hidden just behind the Atlantic Station live-work-play community, were singer Anthony David and producer Bryan-Michael Cox engaged in a conversation led by lifestyle journalist Satchel Jester – preceded by David’s performance for a few media cohorts.

Jester offers, “Today, we wanted to dive into the science of sound. In order to have a complete conversation, we sat with Bryan-Michael Cox and Anthony David, and with subject-matter experts who could speak on the capabilities of Rebel and the modes … everything that makes it special. To take the music from the studio to the streets, per se. I think we accomplished that here.”

My day with my “Ruby Red metallic hybrid model with Ebony leather interior and a Reserve 2.0L I4 HEV engine,” came to an end when I left Studio 2B. All that was left of my journey was a trek down Interstate 75/85 south to the Williams Street exit before I made a complete 360 back to The Optimist where a surprise swag bag was waiting.
