Kenya Johnson, Esq., Trial Attorney and TV Legal Analyst

The Johnson Law Offices LLC

Kenya Johnson garnered national attention after the successful criminal prosecution of a child pimping case in 2009, and the Georgia Tech student shootings in 2010. She has become a frequent legal analyst providing commentary on several cable news shows and crime series. Johnson hosts “Legally Speaking,” a talk show produced by the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, and “Fulton Cold Case,” a television production featuring unsolved murders in Atlanta. She credits her success in her current job to years of experience as a criminal prosecutor.

“I was a criminal prosecutor for over 15 years in Atlanta,” Johnson said. “I prosecuted crimes ranging from murder to burglary and … I became a staple in the community where I then developed youth crime prevention programming. I was a firsthand witness to our criminal justice system, and after many years of serving victims of crime, I switched gears to become a criminal defense attorney.”

Johnson expands her powerful influence by lecturing nationally on the ethical obligations associated with mass media exposure, offering insight for attorneys interested in such opportunities. She shared her thoughts on being such a powerful woman.

“A powerful woman is a woman who has an opinion and takes a position. When a powerful woman stands for what she believes in and can thoughtfully justify her position, she is better prepared to withstand adversity,” said Johnson.

Though her children, and giving them an example of a responsible and active member of the community, are her major motivators, Johnson is also quite proud of her ability to influence other people’s children.

“In 2015, I developed ‘Ladies First Finishing Academy,’ an etiquette and career development program for at-risk teens teaching business and table etiquette, nutrition and food preparation, interviewing skills, dressing for success, responsible reproduction, college selection and social media responsibility,” said Johnson. “This program has been my biggest accomplishment to see our teens become young ladies of style and grace.”
