The Supreme Clientele black-tie gala and fashion show was the only place to be in Detroit on Sunday, Oct. 23. With the theme set as “Fly Kicks and Socks,” the Garden Theater in downtown Detroit was transformed into a majestic showroom of elegance and was then filled with many people dressed in their best, all to have a great night in support of an even greater cause: National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Supreme Clientele is a group of businessmen that use their platform and promotional skills to provide the most elite events in Detroit while giving back at the same time. This event came about in an effort to raise breast cancer awareness and 20 percent of the proceeds were donated to the American Cancer Society. Darius Statum, one of the men behind this momentous event, spoke about his grandmother being affected by breast cancer, which made the success of this event a personal goal of his. “The preparation was the best part for me. Watching this come to life before it came to life,” Statum expressed while discussing the attendance at the most recent annual Breast Cancer Walk in Detroit. He discussed how he and his team successfully motivated over 50 supporters to join them for the walk.

The venue was draped in pink and black with an astonishing aura that gave young business professionals and socialites the opportunity to come together to network, expand and most importantly, aid in something so important that is impacting so many of our people. According to breastcancer.org, about 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. In women under 45, breast cancer is more common in Black women and they are more likely to die of the disease than any other race.

The fashion show included seven designers such as Mr. U and Runway Couture, with DJ Mix and Detroit’s own Jukeboxx on the music. Detroit artist La’Britney performed during intermission. Brian “DJ BJ Mr. 3525” Jackson, who just released his own app, won the “Entrepreneur of the Year” award. Brandon Brice, who is running for the Detroit Public Schools board; and Councilwoman Mary Sheffield both snagged the “Community Leader of The Year” award. The VIP section included complementary unreleased Ciroc Mango and massages sponsored by A Unique Embrace day spa.

Oh So Radio host Ron Dance co-hosted the event, along with Hot 107.5’s Kenny Valentino and Stewe. Rolling out caught up with Dance, who was excited about seeing so many beautiful people in one room for such a great cause. “It felt better than a paid event, knowing that it can [result in [fewer] lives being lost due to this illness is amazing,” Dance stated.

Overall, there was so much great energy in the building and once the fashion show concluded, guests danced the night away.
