As fans of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” know, Peter Thomas and NeNe Leakes were notorious for their onscreen blow ups, the last of which resulted in a major beef growing between his now estranged wife, Cynthia Bailey, and Leakes. But now that Bailey and Thomas are divorcing, the “RHOA” star is opening up about her estranged husband’s effect on her friendship with Leakes.

As viewers will likely remember, during a yelling match between Leakes and Thomas a few years ago, Leakes left both cast and viewers alike with dropped jaws when she called Thomas a “b—h.” From that point on, fans watched as Bailey and Leakes’ friendship slowly crumbled and the two women eventually became bitter enemies, shading each other left and right in the media.

However, last year, Bailey and Leakes were finally able to reconnect and restore their friendship. Unfortunately, around the same time, Bailey’s relationship with Thomas was crumbling under the strain of their long-distance marriage and a viral video of Thomas inappropriately touching another woman in his bar. This past summer, after more than a year of marriage drama, Bailey announced that she was divorcing Thomas.

In a recent interview, Bailey opened up about the effect that Thomas and Leakes’ beefs had on their friendship and she explained that Thomas didn’t intentionally try to pull the two women apart. However, he also didn’t mince words about his feelings on Leakes.

“Looking back — I don’t know if it was a wedge per se. He just has very strong opinions. It is what it is. It just all played out,” Bailey said.

Well, Bailey may have lost a husband in the past year, but she’s also regained her friendship with Leakes and she says that she’s happy to have her former BFF back in her life.

“I’m just excited at this point that Nene and I just kind of found our way back to being friends because we weren’t friends for a couple of years. It’s just one of those friendships where we just really have a good time together,” Bailey said.

Bailey added, “I didn’t just wake up one day and was like, ‘I’m going to be really good friends with Nene’. I didn’t know we were just going to connect, but we have really good chemistry. I think she’s great and I’m glad to have her back in my life.”
