Master vehicle detailer Gideon King recently opened Big Foot Detailing Centre, an international vehicle detailing service center in Doha, Qatar. King has also been an exclusive detailer for Bentley, Bugatti and Lamborghini. The Centre’s services include paint correction, nano-based ceramic coating by MAYVINCI and much more. The Centre has been open for less than a month and there are 180 inquiries for Big Foot Detailing franchises worldwide. Big Foot’s detailing academy opens in the U.K. in 2017, where King will continue sharing his knowledge of exceptional detailing and building an enterprise. Rolling out spoke with King on his recent and well-deserved success.

What was your experience in the detailing business prior to The Big Foot Detailing Centre?

I started training people and businesses on how to detail cars. I noticed there were a lot of problems with the way people were detailing cars, and the products and machines they were using. I began giving presentations to big car companies on detailing cars. I did not allow the staff to see what I was doing; I just showed them that it could be done. I then became the exclusive detailer for companies such as Bentley and Bugatti. From there, I became known for my good work and more people and companies wanted to learn how I detailed cars.

What inspired you to start this business?

I have always wanted to run my own business. When I was 17 years old, I sold mobile phones because I didn’t want to work for anyone. I was always good at networking with people. I knew it was a gift I had. I also remember going to the trade shows. I wanted to have those cars, so I began to polish and wash them. From there I knew I wanted to have my own detailing business.

There are over 182 inquiries for Big Foot Detailing franchises, how did this come about so quickly, since the company just launched in last month?

I was promoting on social media. I had a big social media presence. Companies were able to see what I had to offer before my company launched.

How would you define the success of your company?

We are recognized as the best detail[ing] business in the world. People from all over the world come to learn from us. The president of Rupes [Milan Guido Valentini], invested in my business because I was confident that this detailing business is 100 percent fail proof.

What advice can you give to young entrepreneurs in regards to securing funding for their business?

Focus as much as you can. Learn as much as you can so you can be the best at what you do. Network and connect with prominent figures in whatever industry you are interested in. Make sure your social media image aligns with your bank account.

What is the most rewarding aspect of running your own business?

The most rewarding aspect of owning my own business is not having a boss and not having to answer to anyone.
