There is so much undeniable musical talent busting out of the city of Detroit. Play Detroit Music (PDM) is bringing that talent to the forefront.

Having launched their musical event and blog on Nov. 24 at Truth Music Café, PDM presented The Play Detroit Music Experience featuring live bands, singers, dancers and musicians from the R&B, neo-soul, hip-hop, rap and electronic dance music genres. PDM brought out some of the top artists in the city including internet sensation Zay Hilfigger, the mastermind behind the dance craze “JuJu On Dat Beat.” Top DJs DJ G-Raw, DJ Don Q and Mike Clark provided the sounds with performances from rising stars Carmichael 313, Kinesis, and Rico Wil. The Motor City Rockerz brought along art in the form of breakdance and Candice Meeks, owner of The Craft Café Detroit, curated a live painting.

The Play Detroit Music Experience will be held every third Thursday of the month in an effort to encourage metro Detroiters to support the talent coming right out of their city. This ongoing event will unite people from all over for one purpose and that is the love they all have for Detroit music. Proceeds from each experience will benefit a local music education organization.

“After the Motown era, Detroit was never recognized for music. We have so many musical geniuses here and we wanted to create these platforms to give them visibility and recognition. Our blog and music experience will put the spotlight on all music genres in Detroit. We will celebrate my music, your music and collectively our music,” says founder of PDM, Charles “Chuck” Mannie.

The next edition of the Play Detroit Music Experience will cater to hip-hop and take place on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2017, at Truth Music Café.
