Wiz Khalifa is mourning the loss of one of his own.

On Monday, the rapper’s sister, Dorien “Lala” Thomaz, who was reportedly transgender, died. She was 32.

Fast forward to Friday, and the 29-year-old had taken to Twitter to address his loss, writing, “The loss of my sibling has been the hardest thing I’ve had to deal with but [with] your prayers and well wishes my family will get through this.”

Meanwhile, Khalifa’s mother, Peachie Wimbush, took to Instagram, where she shared a photo of her daughter’s obituary, in addition to a well-known quote from the film Steel Magnolias.

“…there was no noise, no tremble, just peace,” the caption read. “Oh God(dess), I realized as a woman how lucky I am. I was there when that wonderful creature drifted into my life and I was there when she drifted out. It was the most precious moment of my life.” Wimbush continued, “I have seen, heard and felt every bit of your love.” Dorien’s obituary also noted that she died “peacefully with her Mother by her side.” However, a cause of death has not been released.

In case you missed it, four days before going public with news of her daughter’s death, Wimbush shared another photo via social media with a request for prayer. “Your prayers are necessary… thank you in advance,” she wrote alongside the image featuring herself holding another woman’s hand.

On Tuesday, Feb. 21, Khalifa celebrated his son’s (Sebastian Taylor, whom he shares with ex-wife Amber Rose) 4th birthday with a Batman-themed birthday bash.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Khalifa and his family. Share your condolences in the comment section below.
