Being Black and woman: The eternal struggle

“As a child, I remember being compared to both my mother and sister who have lighter complexions. I wondered why people kept talking about my dark skin? Was it a bad thing?  But after speaking with my parents, I learned I shouldn’t be ashamed of who I am. Each Black woman is unique, amazing and beautiful. And now at the age of 30, I can confidently say I love and fully embrace my Black womanhood.”
