Last night, Tyler Perry sat down with former “Today” show host Tamron Hall to discuss more Tyler Perry news. They discussed everything from Perry’s decision to collaborate with Oprah Winfrey and take the original scripted shows he wanted to put on his own network to the OWN Network to why his son is 2 years old and he still hasn’t allowed him to watch television.

Most people probably thought of the news of his son not watching television strict on Perry’s part; however, I was just excited to hear news about his son, who hasn’t been in the public eye.

It was clear Perry and Hall are actually friends. Both were relaxed and spoke freely. Perry’s such a gentlemen and on several occasions he even had Hall blushing on stage, especially when she mentioned she didn’t want to tear up and ruin her mink eyelashes.

Perry also shared that Denzel Washington and Gene Hackman are his favorite male actors, Perry acted in the Ninja Turtles movie for his son, he and Spike Lee actually became pretty good friends, Meryl Streep and Viola Davis are his two favorite female actresses;,Stevie Wonder’s album  In the Keys of Life is one of his favorite albums, and, yes, Perry loves to listen to good rap on his iPod. But most importantly he has a picture of his son as his screensaver on his cell phone — so you have to get pretty close to him if you ever want a glimpse of the baby.

Another refreshing moment came when  Perry welcomed the cast members of his shows “If Loving You is Wrong”, “The Have and the Have Nots”, and “Love Thy Neighbor.” Several of the cast members from these shows were in the audience listening attentively. Afterwards, everyone was nice about taking pictures, no bodyguards just smiling faces. There was an amazing dessert and cocktail reception that followed the interview and everyone appeared to have an amazing time.
