One person following a dream can be that very blessing the masses need and Sonia Jackson Myles is a living testimony of such. Once a corporate executive for Procter & Gamble, she left her prestigious position to manifest her vision of restoring the way women support and interact with each other in the workplace and life in general. Due to the acceptance of this calling and fervently following her dream until it bloomed into fruition, The Sister Accord was formed and the lives this organization has touched will forever be transformed.

Jackson Myles’ goal is to touch one billion sisters’ lives, hence the genesis of The Sister Accord Tea Party — a traveling tour to teach girls and women The Sister Accord principles, as well as provide them with the necessary tools to love, respect, and uplift each other in order to break the mean girl cycle. Currently having touched more than 1500 lives, The Sister Accord Tea Party made its stop in Chicago this past weekend and the turnout was nothing short of amazing. Through a sponsorship with Hilton via Burrell Communications, The Wit hosted the event and the venue was exquisite. Between the breathtaking beauty of the room and the warm welcome all guests received from The Sister Accord crew, the ambiance oozed of warmth, safety, and fellowship.

Upon the opening of the program, as soon as Jackson Myles touched the microphone, it was evident why this dream was hers to fulfill.  Her exuberance for helping others and genuineness simply exuded through her smile and demeanor.  In her introduction, she set the mood for an event meant to uplift and inspire each and every attendee and the feeling of excitement and anticipation was further heightened in the room. And the best was yet to come: women honoring women.

The five phenomenal awardees of the night were Kimberly Foxx, Cook County State’s Attorney; Joset Wright-Lacy, president of National Minority Supplier Development Council; Becky A. Davis, chief BOSSpreneur of MVPwork LLC; Dr. Mahalia Ann Hines, board president of Common Ground Foundation, and Andrea Zopp, deputy mayor and chief neighborhood development officer for the city of Chicago. The speeches they gave before being presented with their accolades were motivationally priceless as they relived their journeys of triumph from humble beginnings and the obstacles they had to defeat as they paved their way to greatness. More importantly, they stressed the importance of building character and the power of believing in yourself.

Following, the Etiquette Presentation by Jacqueline M. Baker was timely and oh so personable. From posture checks, public speaking tricks, and proper handshaking techniques, Baker completely got the room together. Moreover, she too told her journey and left everyone even more motivated to find their life’s purpose and live it out to be a blessing unto others, especially their sisters.

The Sister Accord Tea Party is a must attend event for girls and women of all ages, from every background around the world, as the tools and knowledge held within are agelessly beneficial. In a world where the “you can’t sit with us” attitude has run rampant, it’s refreshing to know you’ll always have a seat with The Sister Accord.
