FASH BASH 2017 recently made a huge splash in Detroit during their seventh annual fashion show fundraiser at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA). Presented by the Founders Junior Council (FJC), a young professionals auxiliary of the DIA, and in partnership with Neiman Marcus,  FASH BASH is an annual fundraiser for the museum and a must-attend event for the season. The who’s who of Detroit is always in attendance, and the fashions are always trendsetting, chic, fashion-forward and red-carpet worthy. Patrons experienced a full runway fashion show, great edibles, unique cocktails and got a chance to rub elbows with the city’s most elite. David Gasper, FJC president, said of the annual event, “Fash Bash gives residents and Detroit visitors alike the opportunity to celebrate the arts and fashion in our city through such a sophisticated event featuring one of the most well-known designers in our city.”

This year, the “Art of Fashion” runway show displayed trendy, sexy and punk-rockish fashion for the gawds from Ken Downing, the international creative director of Neiman Marcus. This year’s theme was punk rock, with a rebel voice, explained Downing. He went on to say, “There’s going to be a little Debbie Harry, a little bit of Madonna, Eurythmics. When you think back to 1979/1980, those songstresses that really kind of defined an era – and the guys as well. So, there’s going to be a very punk rock attitude to the show.”

The fashion show was concluded by the Lincoln Motor Company Afterglow where the libations were plenty and the cuisine was uniquely catered just for the event. Eventgoers experienced spirit infused snow cones, waffle cone buffalo chicken with gorgonzola and shaved fennell salad, as well as egg and hash tater tots that included spinach hash, onions, fennel, dill and poached eggs. There was also an interactive key ring making station where people could “Punk My Keys.” Part of the evening’s sounds were provided by a special guest DJ —  Andre Drummond from the Detroit Pistons. The afterglow also provided partygoers with a glimpse of the beautifully stylish 2018 Lincoln Continental and Lincoln Navigator that were both on display and gave everyone a chance to get up close and personal with the vehicles.
