This past weekend, the 50 Shades of Pink Foundation, founded by “Married to Medicine” star and two-time breast cancer survivor Dr. Jackie Walters, presented its fifth annual fashion show and gala at Atlanta City Hall. Hundreds of guests flooded the pink wonderland. They were dressed in 1920’s fashions to celebrate breast cancer survivors and warriors.

Atlanta City Councilwoman Keisha Lance Bottoms, “Married to Medicine” stars Dr. Heavenly Kimes, Mariah Huq, Curtis Berry and many more were in attendance as they mixed and mingled with guests throughout the night, discussing empowering breast cancer warriors.

The evening began with a sonnet from poet Hank Stewart, followed by a welcome by Atlanta Municipal Court Judge and honorary event chair Terrinee Gundy and 50 Shades of Pink Foundation executive director Gary Andrews, and an introduction of the master of ceremonies, actor and author Hill Harper, who shared his battle with thyroid cancer.

Chloe Arnold’s Syncopated Ladies opened the fashion show with a tap performance, which was followed by breast cancer warriors and survivors walking the runway. The models strutted the runway in Linda Bezuidenhout and Bramer Leon designs, showcasing the beauty of their femininity.

Following the fashion show, Dr. Jackie and Harper held a silent auction, calling for sponsors of 50 Shades of Pink Gift Baskets given to breast cancer patients.

Toward the end of the gala, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed presented a surprise donation of $20K to 50 Shades of Pink from the city of Atlanta to help 50 Shades of Pink further its mission of nurturing the inside and outside of breast cancer warriors.

All the proceeds from the gala will go toward 50 Shades of Pink’s vision and mission to focus on the psychological, physical, emotional and spiritual needs of individuals affected by breast cancer.
