The importance of fathers being active in the lives of their children cannot be stressed enough. More times than we chose to admit dads get a bad rap. We can point to the recent events going on with Hollywood star Tyrese, who recently had an investigation dropped against him after finding no evidence that he beat his daughter. Prior to the investigation being resolved, Tyrese could be found online acting erratically and literally crying out for his daughter. The fact that this situation has been resolved means more for the child than anything because children need their fathers.

A group of Black men known as the Chicagoland Dad Squad and their children recently visited “Marvel Universe Live” at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. This was an opportunity for fathers and their children to spend some quality time and have fun together. This outing is a result of the work of Tenille Jackson, who created the Mom Squad. The Mom Squad grew from four members to 8K members across the country in a matter of years. The Dad Squad is sure to follow suit.

We asked Everett Myrick what it means to come to an outing like this. “It means a lot, I come out with my kids and it’s an opportunity for them to meet other kids and have fun. It shows that fathers are in their kids’ lives.”

Check out a few pictures from the outing below.
