Most hip hop heads believed Azealia Banks and rapper Remy Ma at least enjoyed a casual friendship and tried publicly to put on a show of unity for the sake of female lyricists.
Well, all of that went up in a blaze the moment that Azealia Banks critiqued Remy Ma’s new music material in this manner via Instagram. And later on in this beef, Azaelia claimed that Remy is not — and never was — on Nicki Minaj’s level in terms of skill-set and impact in rap music.
“Ahem…. let me rephrase … Remy … you absolutely must step your sh** up,” Azealia began, quickly revving up to fifth gear. “The music you have been releasing is some serious old head rap sh*t and it’s 100% unfair that you stand up on your reality tv booster seat and make any statements about female rap as if you have done a single thing to move the cultural needle since you’ve been home. It is not 2000… battle rapping is dead. Gun clapping is not chic … you are struggling to keep up with the rest of female rap and it’s time you seriously leave the nicki minaj subs and disses at home. No more auntie antics in 2018… for arts’ sake……”
Remy Ma fired back at Banks with a quickness. And Remy brought receipts about how Azealia once came to Remy looking for her help, as she points out below:
Remy kept the verbal guns blazing on Azaelia Banks with this scolding:
“@azealiabanks DONT F**KIN CHANGE YA CAPTION NOW! I got a year and a half more of u stalking me, hating on ya new fave, & getting ignored… I’m officially airing out ALL y’all chicks that was on MY line heavy when I touched down & now all of a sudden got amnesiaOperation NEVER taking my foot off they neck has commenced…(& normally I’m against exposing private sh*t when things go left but y’all broads crazyyy)
Remy’s Team: Ok Rem, that’s enough
Remy: Nahhh, f*ck that
Remy’s Team: lets just focus on your record #WakeMeUp, it’s doing great!
Remy: okay y’all right, “Go download, stream, and watch my new video…then come back here so y’all can hear shorty voice notes #7w6s #RemyMa#RemyMafia ps: why was u texting me about what surgery I wanna get on ya “
But then Azaelia Banks verbally body-slammed Remy with this scorching, heat-seeking response that basically said Remy did not open doors for female rappers (as Remy claims she has) and is not close to Nicki Minaj’s level of fame and impact in the modern rap game. Most rap fans remember Remy blasting Minaj earlier this year in a one-sided rap beef about who was more influential in the hip hop arena.

Remy went for Azaelia Bank’s scalp again by posting a screen-saved shot that showed how Azaelia once went to Remy for comfort and advice during a down period in Azaelia’s life. That Remy would post a private conversation about a woman who came to her in a plea for help garnered the rebuke of some fans, however.
remy ma wack asf for exposing this convo….honestly it looks like azealia banks just needed a friend to vent to pic.twitter.com/YgnDs3blml
