BLKS is a two-hour play that explores the ups and downs of four friends growing up and “out” in New York City. After one of the cast members receives an unpleasant scare, she decides on one last hurrah with her friends. This outing takes them on a journey they will not forget, as friendships are tested and love is lost and found.

A bold, breakthrough play, the cast features ensemble members Namir Smallwood, Leea Ayers, Nora Carroll, Celeste Cooper, Danielle Davis, and Kelly O’Sullivan. Written by Azia Barnes and under the direction of Nataki Garrett, the collaboration was a perfect match for women of color telling a story about women of color.

BLKS closes Jan. 28, 2018 at the Steppenwolf Theater, 1650 N. Halsted Street, Chicago.
