Detroit holds 4th annual Underground Hip-Hop Awards

Detroit is on the radar for being one of the best underground hip-hop spots for rap fans in the country. As such, in true Motown fashion, Detroit continues to crank out stars uch as Tee Grizzley, Big Sean, Dej Loaf, Kash Doll, Zay Hilfiger, and Neisha Neshae. In no time, Detroit will be on a trajectory to become the number one spot for the underground music industry in the U.S., paving the way for new artists, DJs, writers, and producers.


To shed some light on some of the top tastemakers in the city, creator Diarra “Uncle P” Collazo presented the 4th annual Detroit Underground Hip-Hop Awards, hosted by DJBJ 3525 of Hot 107.5 FM. The show recently took place at St. Andrews Hall in downtown Detroit. Some of Detroit’s local favs took the stage with performances from M City Jr., Big Gov, Brielle Lesley, T Villa, and more. The audience also got a chance to witness producer beat battles in between performances.

Kash Doll’s “For Everybody” took home the best song and video of the year honor, while the newest female addition to Roc Nation, Neisha Neshae, won the best female artist award. The best mixtape producer award went to RJ Lamont, followed by Helluva, who took home the award for the city’s best producer. Over 20 awards were presented for that evening.
