Fabolous could spend the next five years of his life behind bars. According to court documents reportedly obtained by Bossip, the Brooklyn-raised rapper is facing one count of aggravated assault and one count of making terroristic threats in the third degree.
As previously reported, the incident involved his long-term girlfriend Emily Bustamante. Bustamante, who is also known by many as Emily B, called authorities and said that Fabolous had threatened her and father. At some point, Bustamante said Fabolous punched her several times which caused her to lose two teeth.
The accusations were followed by a video, released by TMZ, that showed Fabolous yelling at Emily B and her father. In the video, Fabolous threatened Emily B’s father by reportedly saying that he had a bullet with his name on it. In the video, Emily B appeared to run from Fabolous.
Fabolous and Emily B have dated on-and-off for over 10 years. The two have two children together and Emily B has a 19-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
Fabolous, whose debut album was released in 2001, was not known as a rapper with an extensive criminal record. He garnered respect from rappers such as Jay Z and Nas and recently releases a critically-acclaimed album with Jadakiss.
However, Fabolous’ career could take a hit following the domestic violence incident.
