Anita Baker visited Chicago recently during her farewell tour. Threat of a thunderstorm loomed for the entire weekend and earlier that day heavy showers left many concertgoers uncertain of their attendance. Some may have felt that way, but a majority of the concertgoers were undeterred and filled the Ravinia lawn with tables filled with all the fixings of a summer picnic and the excitement of seeing a legend perform for the very last time in her city. The skies were cloudy but spirits were high and the anticipation was great.

The 60-year-old R&B legend hit the stage with a fiery rendition of “Lady Marmalade” and immediately went into her bag of hits. A career spanning 35 years has resulted in a list of hits for Baker and it is no surprise why her fans love her so. One of the most memorable moments is hearing the Ravinia audience break into song as the band played “Sweet Love” in the background. It was an emotional moment and helped to shape a night filled with great music and love.

We asked concertgoer Tasha Hammond what she thought about the show. “Anita Baker’s concert was everything that I anticipated! From the awesome venue, combined with a mature crowd and her electrifying performance, attending this concert during her farewell tour was a no-brainer. Auntie Anita did not disappoint,” she said.

Take a look at a few pictures from the concert below.
