Once again, downtown Atlanta will be the setting of one of the greatest parades of science fiction and pop culture, the DragonCon 2018 parade.

Thousands will line Atlanta’s Peachtree Street to the downtown hotel district where an estimated 98K are expected to attend this year’s event. The main DragonCon 2018 hotel venues are the Hyatt, Marriott-Marquis, Hilton and Sheraton. The Atlanta Apparel Mart will once again play host to hundreds of vendors for DragonCon that include medieval style chainmail armor to the latest in comic and pop culture collectibles and games.

The parade will begin at the intersection of Peachtree Street and Linden Avenue, head south on Peachtree, east (left) on Andrew Young International Boulevard and north (left) on Peachtree Center Avenue. It will end on Peachtree Center Avenue between John Portman Boulevard and Baker Street, in front of the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. The parade route will feature floats, fantasy vehicles, Star Wars stormtroopers led by Darth Vader and a host of fans dressed as characters from various fantasy, comic and science fiction genres. It will start at 10:00 a.m. and several thousand people will line the parade route.

It is free and open to the public and is a family friendly event. Because of the crowds, public transportation is advised.

Here are pictures from previous parades:
