Nicki Minaj turns Lil Wayne and other rappers into puppets for ‘Barbie Dreams’

YouTube video

The video for Nicki Minaj’s Biggie-nodding “Barbie Dreams” is officially here. Directed by Hype Williams, the colorful visual arrives in support of Minaj’s Queen album.  Adding to the intrigue, the video was dropped just hours after Minaj’s expletive-laden tirade against rap foe Cardi B on her latest Queen Radio installment.

Drama aside, the real story can be found in the video’s artistic approach, with Minaj and Williams creating an alternate universe filled with the puppet versions of Lil Wayne, DJ Khalid, 6ix9ine and others.

“Barbie Dreams” follows the videos for Queen‘s “Ganja Burns” and “Bed” and the pre-Queen singles “Chun Li” and “Barbie Tingz.”
