B. Smith’s husband moves White mistress into home as wife battles Alzheimer’s

Venerated Black restaurateur and businesswoman B. Smith is so beloved that she has even been called the “Black Martha Stewart.” But the legendary culinary connoisseur has fallen on misfortune in recent years as she has been stricken with Alzheimer’s disease.

To exacerbate her living conditions, her husband, Dan Gasby, 64, has moved his White girlfriend, Alex Lerner, 53, into their home because his wife doesn’t remember who she is. However, since he shared this very atypical story with the Washington Post, none of them are living in peace, not even close.

The public backlash against Gasby on social media has been predictably ferocious and unrelenting, with charges that he has always cheated on B. Smith, that he and his mistress are spending up Smith’s fortune and that they are living off her empire and brand name. And those are the nicer comments.

The blowback has been so intense that Gasby has tried to defend himself on Facebook by firing back at the legion of haters:

“NEWSFLASH!

To the nickel & dime PayPal thot troll named after two European cities B lived in and all of us have travelled too extensively, to the writer and editor at The Neg-Grio! Who ginned up controversy by covertly spewing racist innuendo, to the bloggers who wallow in the mud and filth of lies, to the idiots and ignorant people calling for my arrest and saying B is or has ever been abused I only wish someone in your immediate family has Alzheimer’s so you can see feel and experience the pain of millions of people across this country so you can know first hand what it’s like to care 24/7/365 for someone who can no longer care for themselves!

“And last of all but to me least of all to those religious Neanderthal who judge as if Jesus was a ball and God is a bat swinging wildly and judging harshly I say to you!

“B. Smith’s worst day is 10x better than you’ve experienced.

“I love my wife but I can’t let her take away my life!

“5-10 years from now when many of you who will have an almost predestined meeting with Alzheimer’s because of genetics, obesity, and a myriad of inflammatory diseases, you’ll be wishing for someone to share moments with and ease the pain of loneliness and despair.

“The clock is ticking I know I can and have manage this but can you do it too?”

The husband’s explanation for why he would move a White woman into the home he shared for nearly three decades with his wife did not tamp down the hate. In fact, it only intensified it.

Furthermore, as he prepares to appear on Dr. Oz on Tuesday to rationalize his decision to move in another woman into the home that he still shares with his stricken wife, he says that he has been subjected to death threats for going public with the relationship.

Check out the preview of the episode on “Dr. Oz” along with a sampling of the public repulsion directed at Gasby.

Here is just a small portion of the responses that Gasby has been fielding the past day or two, which does not include the heat-seeking rage he’s gotten on Instagram and Facebook:
