Clark Atlanta University’s Mass Media Arts Career Fair presented opportunities awaiting current students, soon-to-be graduates or recent grads seeking careers in the media industry.

More than 100 students attended the event. Many were dressed in business attire with personal business cards and copies of their resumes and LinkedIn profiles, hoping to network with media professionals or looking to secure summer internships. The exclusive, hands-on learning and networking experience was held Wednesday, March 27, 2019, and hosted by the Mass Media Arts Department on Clark Atlanta University‘s campus.

During the event, college students had the opportunity to ask questions of professionals in their field of interest. Media industry professionals at the event — who included Todd Tucker, executive producer of TTucker Productions; jazz saxophonist Ryan Kilgore; Cannon Kent-Grant, Atlantic Records promotions director; and Atlanta broadcast journalist and WSB-TV anchor Jovita Moore — gave students insight on how they tapped into their careers and shared first-hand knowledge to help students sharpen their talents and skills while they’re still in college.

Tucker, one of the event’s keynote speakers, told students not to wait until they are about to graduate to pursue their career aspirations but to start where they are right now.

“I’m from the Bronx, so it wasn’t supposed to happen for me,” said Tucker, who was joined at the career fair by his wife, singer and “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss. “You have to get out there to put your best foot forward. Don’t be afraid to take the risk because, if it is for you, it is going to happen.”
