There have been a jarring succession of inexplicable drive-by shootings within the last couple of weeks that have rap lovers and haters on high alert.

Police and media have reported that rapper Yo Gotti’s tour bus was sprayed with a fusillade of bullets while parked outside of his hotel in Nashville, Tenn., on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, TMZ reports.

This is at least the fifth instance of reported drive-by shootings involving famous hip-hop artists in the last two weeks:

  • Rolling out reported that YFN Lucci’s car was targeted by shooters on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, but he was uninjured in the melee;
  • Just last weekend at the Rolling Loud music festival, NBA YoungBoy was shot at by a rival group across from the Trump Tower in suburban Miami, resulting in one fatality and injury to YoungBoy’s girlfriend. A 5-year-old child was grazed by another bullet;
  • In Atlanta, rapper Offset of the group Migos was targeted by armed assailants at a recording studio on May 8, 2019. He also escaped injury.
  • Rapper and former Cash Money artist Flow was sentenced to many decades in prison after being found guilty for fatally shooting two men in New Orleans, though the episode happened in 2015.

In the case with Yo Gotti, sounds of gunfire shattered the quiet evening in downtown Nashville at about 11 p.m. Gotti had just performed at the city’s Mercy Lounge, but no one knows if he rode back on the bus or not.

When police screamed to the scene, however, they discovered that no one was on the bus at the time of the gunfire and no one was injured inside the hotel which is behind the bus. The bus was reduced to Swiss cheese and sustained a flat tire.

A witness told Nashville PD that they heard about six seconds of rapid-fire gunshots and then heard the screeching sounds of a car racing from the scene.

Police are investigating.
