Due to advances in technology, porn is now more accessible than it has been at any point in history. As a result, more people are able to consume adult videos at unhealthy levels which could lead to an addiction.

According to a study done by the Journal of Clinical Medicine in January  2019,  pornography use has been “associated with sexual dissatisfaction and sexual dysfunction, for both males and females, being more critical of one’s body or their partner’s, increased performance pressure and less actual sex, having more sexual partners and engaging in paid sex behavior.”

In a recent episode of “Red Table Talk,” Jada Pinkett Smith admitted to having a porn addiction. However, she is not alone. Here are five other Black celebrities who have suffered from porn addiction.

Terry Crews

In 2016, actor Terry Crews admitted to having a porn addiction. He eventually decided to seek help and entered rehab with the support of his family. During an interview with CNN, Crews revealed that porn led to a lack of intimacy in his relationship. “Every time I watched it, I was walled off,” he revealed. “It was like another brick that came between me and my wife. And the truth is, everything you need for intimacy is in your [partner].”

Tiger Woods

Porn and sexual addiction nearly destroyed Tiger Woods. In 2010, the golf superstar entered a sexual addiction treatment facility after admitting to being addicted to pornography and sex. Woods’ addiction led to a divorce, and his once flawless golf game suffered in the years following his downfall. In 2019, he finally made a comeback by winning The Masters tournament.

Kirk Franklin

Kirk Franklin revealed that his addiction to porn began when he was 12. It started with him sneaking to look at his big brother’s adult magazines, and it escalated as Franklin became an adult. He once described the power of porn as a ‘drug’ that would call to him at night.

Kanye West

Kanye West admitted to having a porn addiction that started at 13. He would often read porn magazines and watch porn movies and videos that were on VHS tapes when he was a youth. As he got older, Kanye would walk around with a suitcase full of porn. In 2018, he told Jimmy Kimmel that he still watches porn and directed the PornHub awards that same year.

Chris Rock

In 2018, Rock revealed that he suffered from porn addiction during an interview on a show called, “Tamborine.” Rock said, “When you watch porn, you become, like, sexually autistic. You develop sexual autism. You have a hard time with eye contact and verbal cues. You get desensitized. When you start watching porn, any porn will do. Then, later on, you’re all f– up and you need a perfect porn cocktail to get you off.”

Rock, who divorced from his wife in 2016, later revealed during the interview that he doesn’t watch as much porn anymore.
