Tekashi 6ix9ine took the stand in federal court on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, to testify against his former gang members. According to The New York Times, Tekashi — whose real name is Daniel Hernandez — answered questions on the stand for nearly two hours.
While wearing a blue jail jumpsuit, Tekashi testified about the Nine Trey Bloods gang and revealed that he became a member to help fund the gang’s criminal activities. In 2017, he met most of the gang members at a video shoot for his song, “Gummo.” Tekashi wanted real gang members in the video and paid for three dozen red bandanas for them to wear during the shoot.
After the video shoot, Tekashi eventually became an official Nine Trey gang member and testified that he participated in shootings, assaults and drug trafficking. Prosecutors played the video, and Tekashi pointed out several gang members who were in featured in the video. He also pointed out gang members who were in the court and revealed that rapper Trippie Redd is a member of the Bloods gang.
Fearing for his safety, Tekashi is being held in a jail unit with other inmates who have agreed to testify against their former criminal counterparts.
