It may seem strange to us mere mortals that two-time Academy Award nominee Viola Davis would admit being a “little scared” to play Michelle Obama in a new TV show.

The universally-beloved Davis, who won her Best Actress Oscar for Fences and an Emmy for her leading role in “How to Get Away With Murder,” said she feels trepidation when it comes to portraying the former first lady.

The Widows star is set to play former President Barack Obama’s wife in the Showtime drama “First Ladies,” but she says the task is daunting.

“I’m a little scared … I’ve met Michelle Obama … and exactly what you think she is, she is. She’s awesome,” she told “Entertainment Tonight.” “She’s awesome in every way. She’s smart. She’s confident. She’s articulate. She believes in sisterhood.”

Most fans have already exhibited excitement for one top-tier American personality to play another widely-admired and high-achieving one. Obama, of course, is a two-time Ivy League graduate (Princeton undergrad, Harvard Law School) and was instrumental in getting her future husband hired – a more than one occasion.
