What inspired you to write this book?
As I mention in the book, I gave a speech at the 2017 Alabama Leadership Conference entitled, “Making Your Leadership Legacy Count,” and at the end of the conference, several participants wanted to hear more on the subject. They asked if I had a book or other articles on leadership and leaving a legacy. I shared a lot of materials on leadership but had nothing else to offer on legacy. I considered the matter closed, but over the course of a few months, their questions kept coming back to me. So, I set aside time to research and think more about leadership legacies and, in doing so, realized that indeed I wanted to write a book. Not a book just on leadership legacy, but rather on the importance of leaving a legacy wherever you are in life. That was the beginning of my author journey.
