How Erykah Badu, Summer Walker, H.E.R. took over the Soul Train Awards (videos)

The 2019 Soul Train Awards proved to be a celebration of Black excellence from the past and present. Award winners included Beyoncé, H.E.R., Summer Walker, Chris Brown, Lizzo to name a few.  Some of the top performances included Morris Day and the Time, Boyz II Men, Wale and K. Michelle.

Here are the five must-see moments from the 2019 Soul Train Awards.

Soul Train Awards ‘The Soul Cypher’

Similar to the “Hip-Hop Cypher” that allows rappers to rap their hottest freestyle verses  during the BET Hip-Hop Awards, “The Soul Cypher” allows R&B singers to share their vocal abilities. With Erykah Badu behind the turn tables, “The Soul Cypher” featured Carl Thomas, Keyshia Cole, Anthony Hamilton and Le’Andria Johnson.
